World Mental Health Day: Oct 10, 2020
The World Federation for Mental Health takes this opportunity, during a time when the world is confronted by the unprecedented mental health consequences and impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on billions of people, to launch the World Mental Health Day campaign. The theme for this year is:Mental Health for All Greater Investment – Greater Access
What is mental health?
Our thoughts and actions all depend on the brain. Without a brain, a train without an engine becomes a kite without a thread. We need to ensure that mental health, along with other bodily organs, is satisfactory in order to fulfill our duties, reach goals, and live happily. World Mental Health Day is meant to create that awareness, to be vigilant, to make the necessary plans, and to be aware and observant. Today, discussions are held to alert the public, to conduct seminars, to take precautions against mental disorders, and to treat people with mental disabilities. There is a risk that the condition may worsen if mental illness is neglected or stopped in the middle of treatment.
Physical and mental health are interdependent. Chronic physical problems sometimes affect the brain. As well as mental weakness can be physically debilitating. So it is important to make sure that you are physically and mentally fit. Know the things you need to be vigilant. The day was first observed in 1992 at the instigation of the World Federation for Mental Health with the advice and cooperation of members of mental health centers in 150 countries. That means we are going to celebrate the 18th World Mental Health Day today. In some countries, seminars and therapies will be held weekly starting today under the name Mental Illness Awareness Week.
Mental illness is the name of the game for all of us. If we are mistaken for such a disease, we will be overwhelmed by the severity of the disease. We and our grandchildren are worried. Experts estimate that 40 percent of us are actually insane. It is only a medical analysis. And frankly, to be precise, those who are completely normal are probably any two percent. How much abnormality is around us ?! How many strange trends? Food madness, money madness, jewelry madness, book madness, name madness, movie madness.

Presumably, the spread of coronavirus has led to a mental health crisis, with many people experiencing high levels of depression and anxiety. Although it is common to feel anxious, confused, or overwhelmed when an infection spreads, they may also experience feelings of anxiety and distress even when they are not at risk of becoming ill.
When we are in the midst of a severe interruption, there are steps we can all take to improve our mental health and stay happy. On the occasion of World Mental Health Day on October 10 each year, we spoke with Dr. Roma Kumar, Chief Psychologist and co-founder of Emotional.in, about what steps you can take to better understand the relationship between emotional fitness and mental health. To improve overall health and well-being.
Emotional fitness and how does it relate to mental health issues
The ability of the mind to stay away from negative thoughts and the state of being able to focus on creative and constructive work when we are told that we are emotionally fit. A healthy emotional life is primarily about how your mind processes, you understand information, your experiences and knowledge of mental health. Negative emotions such as sadness, anger, anxiety and distress can hinder success and drain your energy needed to be productive in your daily routine and activities. Therefore, emotional health involves your ability to manage and express the emotions that arise from what you have learned and experienced. Being mentally healthy is the key to success in all aspects of life. To be mentally healthy, we can live a healthy and happy life because we need consistent habits and exercise that contribute to our mental health and mental well-being. We need to learn to not only cope with the confusion, but to achieve the mindset that allows you to thrive in it.
Parents make emotional fitness a conversation from a child’s early growing years
We know that raising children can be difficult. Children learn best and thrive when they learn about the world when they have strong, loving, positive relationships with parents, grandparents, extended family and other caregivers – whether the world is safe and secure, whether they love it, whether they love it, whether they cry, laugh or face traumatic events. Parents need to cultivate a positive relationship with their child by being with your child, spending quality time with them and creating an atmosphere of respect and trust and attention.
Observe what your child is doing and talk / compliment or encourage them without judgment.
Show acceptance and let your child stay. Try not to give directions at all times.
Listen to your child and try to understand your child’s true feelings. Stop and think about what your child’s behavior tells you.
Support your child’s thoughts and you can use the conversation to learn more about your child’s thoughts and feelings, even if they are different to your ideas.
Children who have learned to grow up in chaos have the ability to remain calm under enormous stress and focus on whom they need to overcome the challenge. They have the ability to change their perception when reality changes. They do not try to argue with reality that things are not a certain way. This is emotional fitness.
Become mentally healthy or resilient?
You need to understand that emotional fitness is not the same as emotional intelligence – it is the ability to empathize. Emotional fitness means the ability to think when the ground collapses under you. The components for a healthy emotional fitness regimen are training your mind for good mindfulness skills. Just as our body needs it to stay healthy and mentally fit, so do our minds need regular exercise and training. Our thought processes are maintained on a daily basis by our feelings and experiences. It includes our feelings, emotions, desires and motivation. So before we think about these emotions we need to attend to the mind well, which makes it clear that our mind can focus with consciousness and thereby help in understanding our feelings and behaviors as well. We need to train our minds to rebuild negative thinking patterns and to accept our emotions. You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people.
Is it important to know that mental health is the master of all health and that ‘access is OK’?
Mental health means developing your character and making sure you have a good, strong mind to cope with the challenges you will undoubtedly face in your life journey. Understanding mental health can help us determine how we manage stress, how we relate to others, and how we make choices. It is important at every stage of life from childhood and adolescence to adolescence. Emotional and mental health is very important because it is an important part of your life and affects your thoughts, behaviors and emotions. Being mentally healthy really promotes productivity and impact in all life activities. It plays an important role in the health of your relationships and allows you to adapt to changes in your life and deal with adversity.
Mental health issues are different
Mental health issues affect different people in different ways. As you begin to see changes in your overall happiness and relationships and emotional health, there are always ways to get the support you need and reach for extra support. And you can see a psychologist or psychiatrist and find the personalized support you need.
Here are some tips to help you all become a first responder to mental health issues.
As a first response, we must begin to recognize that there is a lot of stigma and discrimination regarding mental health. Furthermore, the removal of this stigma and discrimination should begin by bringing awareness on the general state of mental health. The prevalence of mental health problems is similar to the prevalence of physical health problems. Those who suffer from a mental health condition, are no exception to the rule, but are on the scale of the human population. We must begin to recognize that mental health problems and concerns are a sign of being human and to acknowledge our humanity, our weakness and our strengths.
Better treatment for mental disorders :Aging is like another childhood. There is no big difference between fruits and toddlers. It is very important to be a little more sensitive when dealing with the elderly. The number of elderly people is increasing exponentially as the average life expectancy increases. The number of people suffering from mental health problems in old age is increasing along with the number of elderly people. With this in mind, efforts are being made to raise awareness on mental disorders in the elderly this year on the occasion of World Mental Health Day, which is held on October 10 every year.
For every hundred people who come to the psychiatric ward, 25 are elderly. The vast majority of them come with health problems such as depression, insomnia, anxiety, and dementia. Apart from providing better treatment to all of them, counseling is being given to those in need. Medical services are available to those with severe disease in the ward.
Happy in old age: Aging can be a very happy time if the elderly pay little attention to their health and at home. Should the elderly also change at this age? Don’t slip into the trend of how life is over. Anyone of any age can live a happy life with good eating habits, good exercise, and a little care to avoid alcohol and smoking. Can be controlled.
