It is learned that the Chennai Municipality has recently imposed a property tax on ‘Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam’ belonging to Tamil superstar Rajinikanth.
Municipal officials sent notices to Rajinikanth demanding payment of property tax of Rs 6.50 lakh. Rajinikanth appealed to the Madras High Court against this.
Raghavendra Kalyanamandapam has been closed since March 24 when the lockdown was imposed due to corona.
Rajini’s lawyer told the Madras High Court that he could not pay the property tax levied by the Greater Chennai Corporation as there was no income since then. The Madras High Court was outraged.
The court warned Rajini that he would have to pay a fine for resorting to court against the government tax. However, Rajini’s lawyer asked the court to give them some time to withdraw the case.
Rajinikanth recently responded via Twitter to the property tax controversy. A post was posted to this effect.
He said he had made a mistake. Rajinikanth added a hashtag, “Without resorting to the Madras High Court in the Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam tax case, if the Chennai Corporation had been consulted, this mistake would not have happened. Experience is the lesson.”
Before Corona, Rajinikanth last acted in the film Durbar directed by AR Murugadoss.
The next film will be directed by Siruthai Shiva and will star Annatte. Shooting for the film was postponed due to Corona.
It is learned that the shooting of the film will start in the month of December.
The film stars Nayantara Kirti Suresh Khushbu Sundar and Meena as prominent women while Prakash Raj Suri and Satish will be seen in other lead roles.
