Leading costume designer Bhanu Athaiya No more, who presented the first Oscar award

Bhanu Athaiya is one of the leading costume designers in the Indian film industry.  Bhanu Athaya, the country’s first Oscar winner in the film industry, has died in Mumbai.

 Bhanu Athaya, who had been seriously ill for some time, died while receiving treatment.

 Movie celebrities were shocked by the news of her death.  Many said in their condolences that peace be upon her soul.

 She worked with John Molo as a costume designer for the prestigious 1983 Lord Richard Attenborough film Gandhi.

 She won an Oscar for the film.  He then went on to receive two national awards for his films Lekin in 1991 and Logan in 2002.

 Leading actor and director Gurudhat started his career as a costume designer with the film CID.

 Has worked on over a hundred films in his last 50 years of career.  He has worked in films like Pyasa, Chowdhury Ka Chand, Sahib Beevi Ire Ghulam and Swadesh.

 According to family members, she has been suffering from a brain tumor since 2012.

 Was paralyzed a short time ago.  Since then one side of the body has become paralyzed.  Health has deteriorated further in recent times.

 Her daughter Radhika informed the media that she died in Mumbai on Thursday morning.

 Her funeral was held on Thursday evening at the Chandanwadi Cemetery in South Mumbai.
